Has a serious “Tsundoku” problem - accumulating more books than one can get around to reading, lives curiously and creatively, and believes the answer to life, the universe and everything is 42. With Ginger, she wants to create a platform that celebrates creativity, diversity, and humanity in Nürnberg. She moved to Nürnberg less than 2 years ago for work and found Ginger by being at the right place at the right time.

Loves the smell of gently roasted onions in white wine and believes,’If it scares you - do it’. Hates small things like Barbie shoes and is trying to be a real Franconian by learning all the different ways to use ‘Servus’. She is a part of Ginger because it’s the kind of thing she would have loved to find when she arrived in the region 3 years ago. She enjoys living in Herzogenaurach, where she can run in nature and at the same time find nice coffee places.

Still buys Vinyls even though he can’t find the time to actually play them. He was born in Nürnberg and moved away for three years to Ravensburg to study media design. In 2012, after coming back to Nürnberg, he started his own business ELLIJOT, together with Elisabeth Weber. His motivation to be a part of Ginger was the idea which he really liked and the team who he just couldn’t say no to.

Lost his sense of smell when he was 17. So, has great taste. He lived in 5 countries, 13 cities, and had 20 places he called home before Nürnberg where he has lived now for 9 years. Forgets her refillable water bottles everywhere while being thirsty and believes everything you don’t know is something you can learn. She speaks a few languages and likes to think that cities are like “palimpsests” or old manuscripts that people rewrite as they live in them. She is excited to bring her background in literature and political science to a creative magazine and a cosmopolitan team.

shira

Shira Richman

Genius Knight

Got married over breakfast in a bar and believes ‘Curiosity kills the cage’. Born in Seattle, Washington, in the United States, she moved to Nuremberg in December of 2011. She is a creative writer who loves to translate ideas, scenes, images, and dynamics into the crude and beautiful form of words. With Ginger, she hopes to help others see (more quickly than she did) ways in which we all make this place the fascinating place that it is, and we all have the same rights to put our marks on it.

sophia

Grew up in west Germany and did not like beer before moving here! After finishing school, she moved to Nürnberg in 2013 and worked for an international NGO on social projects one of which even took her to Ethiopia for 7 months. Then she decided to stay here for her graphic design studies and is currently in the 5th semester. ‘To keep it simple but keep it moving’ is her motto and she is excited to be a part of Ginger and get connected to more creative brains in the city.

ABOUT

Our magazine will be a mosaïque of formats, voices and perspectives, created and curated by our collective. These stories will take root in the web and flourish in printed format in Summer 2020.

Our collective is growing organically, from a small team to a crew of local content creators and connectors. These include photographers, writers, illustrators, designers, entrepreneurs, artists, and all kinds of change-makers.

Our community is every single one of you, the curious, the restless mind and the maker. Ginger should symbolize our common roots and everything that makes the region of Nuremberg feel a bit more ‘home’, whether you are ‘local’ or an international.

GINGER UP!

“Ginger Up!” is our call to action, for those of you who would like to join the movement.

Three options:

  1. Share your love and your ideas here
  2. Follow us on Instagram
  3. Or reach out for any other form of contribution

“Ginger Up!” Is also an innovative format of events that we will launch soon. Stay tuned!
